The ZRS Advisory Board is made up of leaders in the world of zombie scholarship, and is charged with overseeing the strategic direction of the Society's research efforts. The Board meets regularly to review past accomplishments, and establish future goals in keeping with the Society's core mission.
The current ZRS Advisory Board includes the following:
MATT MOGK
Inspired by a lifelong interest in the undead, Matt created the Zombie Research Society in 2007 and continues to serve as Chief Executive Officer. With a broad base of knowledge in zombie science, survival, and pop culture, he is also the Editor and primary researcher of the ZRS Blog.
STEVEN SCHLOZMAN, MD
Dr. Steven Schlozman is Co-Director of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. His research in zombie Nneurobiology, leading to the theory of Ataxic Neurodegenerative Satiety Deficiency Syndrome, represents an important step forward for ZRS.
KIM PAFFENROTH, PhD
An Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Iona College, Dr. Paffenroth is also an accomplished writer, theologian, and zombie researcher. He has authored several critically acclaimed zombie books, including the 2006 Bram Stoker Award winner, Gospel of the Living Dead.
SCOTT KENEMORE
Musician and author Scott Kenemore penned the bestseller The Zen of Zombie (2007), and his most recent book, Z.E.O., was released in early August of 2009. When he's not writing about zombies, Scott is the drummer of the rock band The Blissters.
MIKE HARRIS, PhD
Mike Harris is Associate Professor of Biology (Neuroscience) at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, where he specializes in neuro-autonomic regulation. In this capacity he has long been intrigued by the physiological basis for zombies, as it relates to metabolic suppression.
BRENDAN RILEY, PhD
A longtime zombie enthusiast, Brendan Riley teaches and writes about popular culture and new media as an Assistant Professor of English at Columbia College Chicago. His course, Zombies in Popular Media, explores the history and theory of zombies across multiple media.
RYAN MECUM
Poet Ryan Mecum is a zombie enthusiast, and 2008Heinzman AwardWinner for his book, Zombie Haiku. A Cincinnati native, he has had the unique pleasure of hearing Ken Foree - live at the Monroeville Mall - say, "When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth."
GEOFF BOUGH
Geoff Bough is Editor In Chief of Revenant Magazine, an online publication covering zombies in film, print, music, philosophy and more. He's also the Founder of the Revenant Film Festival, a celebration of independent zombie movies held annually in Seattle, Washington.
JONATHAN MABERRY
Jonathan Maberry is a multiple Bram Stoker Award-winning author, magazine feature writer, playwright, content creator and writing teacher/lecturer. He is also the 2008 Heinzman Award Winner for his book, Zombie CSU, which looks at the hard science behind zombies.
RYAN LEACH
Ryan Leach is the co-creator of LostZombies.com, a zombie themed social network that seeks to create the worlds first community-generated zombie film. When not working on LZ, he can be found all over the web exploring his other passion, viral marketing.
